Who’s at your table?: Examining and dismantling power constructs in design and decision-making spaces

Systems of oppression, including racial inequity, are by design. Design frameworks that critically examine the normative relationships among design, inequity, and exclusion, such as Equity-Centered Community Design, are part of the collective approach to dismantling these systems. In this workshop, participants will learn about, and practice using, the Equity-Centered Community Design framework to examine assumptions within community design and decision-making. Using two Creative Reaction Lab tools, participants will explore co-designing inclusive and equitable systems that center community leadership, expertise, values, and interests.
