2020 Update

An update regarding the 5th Annual Design + Diversity Conference
Over the past few weeks, we have been monitoring the progress of COVID-19 with the understanding that the Design + Diversity Conference is still several months away. That said, the president and his administration’s response to this crisis has left us with little confidence that we will have enough control over the spread of this pandemic in time for the conference. Regrettably, we are choosing to cancel the 5th Annual Design + Diversity Conference until further notice and will be providing full refunds to those who have already purchased tickets.
While this is a tough decision, as organizers, we agree that the soul of D+D is the building of community and engagement that happens in-person every year. That is our magic, our special sauce, but even more so, we believe our attendees’ health and safety is of the utmost importance.
These are trying times, please be sure to take care of yourselves and your communities. One of the core precepts of D+D is “Using creative practice to address social ills and systems of oppression through Social Justice”—this is a moment where we as designers can do the work to bring awareness, ease anxieties, and support our communities (especially underinvested children, the elderly and small businesses) who are being negatively impacted by this pandemic.
Stay safe and be well.
